Bent Jacobsen Biography
Publishing House "Labyrinth Press" a good book! A quiet cozy village compon Basset with very friendly residents. But everyone persistently warns the newcomers that it is necessary to lock the door to the house for the night. Of course, the narrator begins to find out what really happens here. It turns out that some time ago, a local landowner-a lover of Dikvin and a rather powerful person-offended a mysterious wanderer, having seized incomprehensible seeds from him, which for some reason, the wanderer very valued.
The seeds were planted, mighty willows grew from them. And the wanderer after some time reappeared in the village. Following him, the inhabitants of the village saw how he did something incomprehensible near the grown-ups ... So trolls appeared in the village-a real punishment for the inhabitants. The whole village life was turned over, no one could cope with these shut -off and sore creatures.
It was simply impossible to coexist with them. And then it was decided to send one of the most respected and enterprising residents of the village, the innkeeper Goodwin, in search of the very mysterious wanderer in order to find out from him how to get rid of the trolls. Goodwin travels to different countries on foot, on ships .... From time to time, mysterious people appear next to him - some soon disappear, without influencing his life, others begin to threaten him, others suddenly help.
Gradually, it becomes clear that the mysterious wanderer is a famous and very evil wizard Castanak. Will it be possible to track him down? And having tracked down your goal and get rid of trolls? Gudwin and satellites-offenders appear:. And, of course, the parrot, which seems to everyone, is a castan man - and over time, Goodwin begins to suspect that this is not by chance ...
We did not lose the boys, choosing this book in order to distract ourselves - the “seller of the trolls” is replete with adventures and unexpected “turning” the situations and images of the heroes: you were sure that this is a villain - and he was our heroes Helped ... You were sure that this is a good character - but it turns out that not so good. But all this is written at the pace of the 19th century, without a rapid action and without terrible scenes, which at the age of 10 can really be frightened.
Such a cozy, moderately adventure and very fabulous reading "with a blanket and a cup of cocoa." However, closer to the end, the tonality of the book suddenly changed: it turned out that everything in the history of trolls and a mysterious wanderer is much more serious and “metaphysical” than it looked at first. Thanks to communication with the wizard of Castanak and reading the old book, together with the heroes, we understand that the largest “shift” in what is happening is the trolls themselves.
Yes, their schoolchiness and hooliganism are pretty out of the rut, it is difficult to live with them, but in the global confrontation of the forces of darkness and light, the trolls find themselves on the side of man, and without them, to people, apparently, simply not to survive. But the problem is that, through the efforts of truly infernal creatures and it is already really scary to read about it, there are almost no trolls on Earth, and the compon's baskets are essentially the last refuge.
More than six months have passed since the moment we read it, since then we have experienced a few more very bright and memorable books together, but Alyosha and Vanya still ask several times a month if the continuation of the story about trolls and Goodwin finally came out. Evdokia Varakin.
