Biography of the monument to the keyboard
SHQIP is one of the most original monuments of Yekaterinburg, of course, is a monument to the keyboard. He, as the world's first keyboard monument, was created in the year according to the artist Anatoly Vyatkin in the framework of the festival “Long Stories of Yekaterinburg”. The opening took place on October 5. The monument immediately fell in love with all Yekaterinburgers.
An unusual monument reproduces a computer keyboard on a scale since such a monument is not anywhere else in the world, this is the largest keyboard in the world! The installation of the keyboard in the QWERTY layout is 86 concrete keys dug in the ground, passed using special equipment: the weight of standard keys varied from 80 to kg, and the “gap” weighed no less than the car - 1.5 tons.
The total area of the monument was 4x16 meters. Near the keyboard there is an old brick house. After the appearance of the monument, it was jokingly nicknamed the system unit. Around the monument, shortly after its opening, there were signs and beliefs. It is believed that if you jump from the letter to the letter to dial your desire on the keyboard, and then press the Enter key with two legs, then the desire will come true.
This is not as simple as it might seem. If you want to start a new life, then you should “reboot” by typing “CNTR”, “Alt” and “Delete”. The finished installation has gained unprecedented popularity among citizens and tourists who have adapted structural elements for vacation benches. Unfortunately, the keyboard did not escape the fate of most Russian monuments: the vandals were uprooted from the ground and carried away the F1, F3, F3 and Y keys in an unknown direction, and Apple's logo was applied to the Windows key.
In the city, the collection of signatures in favor of inclusion of installation in the list of cultural and significant objects of the city and region is currently completed.
The corresponding project is aimed at consideration by the local authorities. The concrete keyboard consists of keys located at a distance of 15 cm from each other. Installation in size of 16x4 square meters. Iset turned into a second network, and a rectangular stone building from the side of the monument became called the “system unit”. Culturologists consider this monument as a symbolic combination of European and Asian values.
In fact, this is not only a monument to the subject of technological culture from the West, but also a landscape composition, a kind of eastern garden of stones. On ordinary days, tourists are crowding near the keyboard: according to local belief, those who can “dial” on it, jumping on the keys, will certainly gain what they want. To do this is not as easy as it seems, however, there are no end to those who want to try their luck.
According to another belief, those who “press” the CNTR, Alt and Delete keys sequentially will “reload” life and open a new, happy page in it. If this turns out to be someone’s power, you can just press Delete-and remove everything unnecessary from life, which has outlived his age. True or not, it is difficult to judge, nevertheless, the townspeople are no longer surprised when they notice a man jumping on the keys - another seeker of happiness.
