People's Artist of the USSR Evgeny Raikov was born in Moscow. His childhood and adolescence fell on severe years - first the war, then the post -war devastation. From the age of thirteen, the future singer to help the family worked at the Machinostroitel plant in Krasnaya Presnya. He had a lot of hobbies in his youth, and in all he reached heights - he had the first category of swimming and football, was a freestyle wrestling master.

But the matter of his life was another passion - to singing. On the stage of the House of Culture, he with pleasure performed Russian folk songs, which he heard in childhood from his mother. Modern songs were included in his repertoire, for one of them - “We are not stakefuls, not carpenters” from the movie “Height” - Raikov received the first award in his creative biography. After successful listening, he was accepted there as an interns. Only then did he leave the plant - after all, now working in the theater in combination with an ongoing study at the institute did not leave a place for nothing else.
