Creative Economy Maxim Kulsha: “We are not entertaining the audience” with which popular youth musical projects begin, what ideas are embodied in an extraordinary sound, and why it is important to “bend” their line, says a young musician from Minsk. And work in it. Looking around fashion, rebuilding yourself constantly and jumping from one stylistics to another, no matter, in music or in external presentation, creates the feeling that the musician betrays and sells himself.
You need to be able to transform music to the surrounding reality, regardless of style, but at the same time know the sense of proportion. And finding your listener is a matter of time. Fashion is too fleeting for those who are engaged in music. The feeling of yourself is rather important here. There are many youth independent groups and interesting musicians, festivals.
We are not so yet, but everything is moving towards this. They say about us that we play a postpank and Coldwave. This is probably so. We didn’t think about it, the train moves forward and we are doing our job without looking back. There is no time for such diagnostics. Is there Message that can attract an audience?
You can play pop music. Then, perhaps, the coverage will be greater. And you can play a tough underground, but then fans will be more devoted. The audience expects sincerity from the musician in any manifestation: will you stand on stage, lie on it or tear the last shirt on yourself. The main thing is to do it sincerely for yourself. And the audience will feel this, the return will be.
If the musician conveys some message to his music, then the listener will be one who is close to this message. No need to play with yourself and with the listener. Either the listener will feel that the musician is insincere, or the musician will think that the listener does not understand something. Therefore, I, Sasha Sinitsa and Pasha Michalok, decided to dilute the gray days and play for their pleasure.
Without any plan and vision, we came up with a couple of rehearsals and recorded several demopesen. They posted on the Internet what happened, liked several magazines, friends. Everything twisted quickly enough. We realized that we were playing only when we had already begun to record the first album and went to perform in Riga, Moscow, and Tallinn. All that we did and do is exclusively what we like: what songs we write, what kind of instruments we use, what sound we give out, how we hold on the stage.
We refuse to be specially published on popular non -core publications for artificial promotion among those listeners that our music is uninteresting and uninteresting at all. We will not find like -minded people there. Our audience is those who are interested in, and not the one we offer. We are not representatives of entertaining art. We do not entertain the audience. We found him by chance.
Our bass player Sasha loves mountains and tour de France, French culture is close to him. It turned out interesting. How do you explain such an interest in your music? Even in countries where they don’t understand the Russian language, I like our music. This is probably because of the energy. If the musician wants to write music not just “for himself”, you need to try to show it to the listeners.
Single city concerts, most likely, will not bring much result, except for the experience of playing on stage. But if you send applications to various festivals and showcaps, it will be a step forward. And if a case falls out at the festival, you need to liberate and show yourself real, sincere, without clamping. Then there will be more such concerts.
And this is a good chance to find your listener. Tell others.
