In my creative search, I was guided exclusively by the interests of truth and used various sources of information: from the memoirs of the allied military leaders to the transcripts of telephone conversations, imperial archives and protocols of the commission on military crimes.

At the same time, I am fully aware that the personality of Field Marshal Rommel would beg with new unexpected faces if, in the course of work on the book, I managed to find even more archival documents and evidence of eyewitnesses of those dramatic events.The life and fate of Marshal Rommel noted by Shakespeare's pathos of tragedy are inextricably linked with the grand drama of the entire German people.
