Biography of Alexander Alexandrovich Alyabyev

In the city, he served under the command of the Partizan poet D. was wounded. He was awarded orders for combat merits. At the end of the war, Alyabyev devoted himself to music. Soon he gained fame as the author of operas, romances, music to vaudeville. Among his friends A. Griboedov, A. Shakhovskaya, Decembrist writers A. Bestuzhev and P. Mukhanov, composer A. Vernovsky, Vielgorsky brothers.

With G. Together with A. Vertovsky and F. Sholts, he wrote the music of the prologue “The Triumph of the Muses” to the opening of the Bolshoi Theater, his comic opera “Moonlit Night, or Brownies”, Vaudeville “Village Philosopher”, and comic ballet “Magic Drum” were staged. In March, Alyabyev was arrested on charges of killing a card game partner and, despite the unproven of the prosecution, deprived of ranks and nobility, and at the beginning exiled to Siberia to Tobolsk.

Here he organized an orchestra, arranged concerts, acted as a pianist. At this time, many of Alyabyev’s best romances were created: “Irtysh”, “Winter Road”, “Evening Calling”, “Two Raven”. Alyabyev is allowed to go to the Caucasus for treatment, where he writes romances published under the general heading "Caucasian singer". Even before Glinka, Alyabyev writes and harmonizes the songs of the peoples of the Caucasus, Kyrgyz, Bashkir and uses them in his work.

His theatrical heritage covers all the genres that existed in that era: the opera is six operas, of which three are completely completed, and only a lunar night, ballet, music for vaudevilles are staged, including ten opera-watering, stage cantata, music for dramatic performances of tragedies, dramas, including the Moscow premiere of the mermaid Pushkin, to the storm and Windsor pranksters of Shakespeare, etc.

Alyabyev compiled, arranged and published several collections of folk songs and instrumental melodies - both Russian and Ukrainian, Caucasian, Tatar, Central Asian. The author of spiritual music is more works, among which a large -scale liturgy of a concert type is distinguished. The fate of this rich heritage was dramatic, most of his works of all of them remained more in manuscripts, many of which are lost.
