Dmitry Yushkov Biography
The Slavic Bestiary project became a real event, gaining more than 1.6 million views and continues to gain momentum. Honestly, I did not even assume that he would cause such interest and provoke such polar comments. I had a long time, but a specialist-ethnographer was required for its implementation. By a happy chance, working on showing a series of rollers for the ethnographic museum, I learned about Dmitry Baranov, who subsequently agreed to take part in our project.
This was a key point, and I am sure that without his participation as the main expert in Slavic mythology, we would not be able to realize this story. And, of course, the idea would have remained only an idea if she had not received support from the “Theater on Sadovaya” in the person of Yana Khafisovna her efforts to organize financing played an important role in creating a web series, and with its mediation, the project received support from VK.
At the beginning of the journey, I still slightly imagined the final result. And here, Nadezhda Nekrasov appeared in the project as a screenwriter, offering his first character - a television showman, an adventurer, who in the style of Steve Irvin hunts for the characters of the Russian fairy tale. It seemed to me a very funny technique. Next, director Maxim Karnaukhov and operator-salesman Vlad Kiytkin joined the project.
Together, we came up with the universe of the district police officer, one of my favorite universes, and later the blogger universe arose. Nadezhda masterfully embodied these ideas in the script. However, in order for all these intentions to be embodied on the screen, more resources were required than was available. It was necessary to optimize the filming process.
To do this, Maxim and I picked up the phone, shot and mounted most of the gaming scenes in advance. But still, the tasks that we had to fulfill in those short terms and in the quantity that we set before ourselves seemed little realized and frighteningly unrealistic. The prospect of tremendous processing and sleepless nights loomed. Who wants to go to this? Will the team be ready for these victims?
The miracle of this project is that just such people gathered around him: Vlad Kiyatkin, the operator, with whom we invented this world from the very beginning, visualized, made endless tests to have time to remove everything in six shifts. These shifts lasted from 20 to 26 hours, and Vlad, of course, is the hero of this project. Our producer Oksana Mavrina, who was just a gift for us.
I called her and honestly told her that and how we want to remove, that we don’t have enough financial instruments, but we will definitely take it away at all costs, and whether she will fit into such an unattractive Odyssey and she replied: “Yes, I love reckless projects! But then we still need crazy people who are ready to go this way with us.” So with us were Alena Petrova, a costume designer, and Maria Shvets - a makeup artist.
Anna Panteleeva with her team, which was responsible for the art design on the site, which took place as soon as possible. Alexander Amiryan, sound engineer, spent most of his time with us on endless shifts in various conditions, and then engaged in post -production, which had to be completed per month. Victoria Omrara, the director of installation, with her we sat at the installation for days and were able to achieve the result that I was proud of.
Special thanks to Mikhail Nesterov, our composer, with whom we created the title melodies for the project, bewitching and inspiring. And, of course, to the artists who went with us the path of colossal processing and withstood all the difficulties - Ilya del Igor Klyuchnikov Andrei Vergelis, Igor Vergeles and others. This project was a real test for us, but thanks to the selfless work of the whole team, we were able to achieve such impressive results.
